Day 1

We depart from your hotel to the north of Vang Vieng, transfer 12km north to Phathao where the trek starts. We begin with climbing the steep mountains which lead us to some spectacular panoramic views! Near the top of the ridge lies the Tham Hok Cave, which we will take some time to explore; it contains some of the most impressive stalactites and stalagmites to be found in Vang Vieng. After we begin the descent down the far side of the mountain to where ‘Secret Eden’ is reached! Here there is time for a swim in cool pools at the side of the river. The final leg of the loop passes through an unusual Palm forest before leading us to Viengsamay Eco Lodge where we shall spend the night.

Approximately: 15 minutes transfer, 5 hours trekking

Day 2

After breakfast a Songthaew taxi transfers us to the starting point of kayaking on the Nam Song River. The river offers exciting but manageable sections of rapids which are suitable for almost everyone! However, if anyone does have difficulties an experienced guide will be on call. Along the way there is a stop at Tham None caves, which is filled with water and are accessed via swimming! Paddling the last leg brings you back to Vang Vieng just in time to enjoy the sunset.
